Another Vendor to Fully Support ODF: GemBox Software

The new release of widely used GemBox.Spreadsheet .NET component fully supports Open Document Format for spreadsheets (.ods files). GemBox.Spreadsheet already supports XLS, CSV, XLSX and HTML, so addition of ODF will enable C# and VB.NET developers to read, write and convert between all that formats. To understand the importance, we need to look at existing user base. GemBox.Spreadsheet is used by more than 1200 companies worldwide (Deutsche Bank, Intel, IBM, HP, Verizon, Schlumberger, Bayer, Siemens, ABB, Shell, Infineon, XEROX, Allianz, AT&T, Volvo, Swarovski and others). Therefore, by upgrading to new version all that companies will be able to create or read ODF documents using their IT systems.

Furthermore, this demonstrates two existing IT trends. First one is wider adoption of ODF. Second is replacement of old, proprietary document formats with new, XML based, open and standardized document formats.
