Superficially, the conflict between ODF and OOXML would seem to be a classic, if more than usually hard-fought standards war. In fact, it's simply a skirmish in a far broader conflict being played out across an IT landscape that is undergoing fundamental change.
The OpenDocument XML.org web site is not longer accepting new posts. Information on this page is preserved for legacy purposes only. For current information on ODF, please see the OASIS OpenDocument Technical Committee.
Welcome to OpenDocument XML.org.
This is the official community gathering place and information resource for the OpenDocument Format (ODF) OASIS Standard (ISO/IEC 26300). Suitable for text, spreadsheets, charts, graphs, presentations, and databases, ODF frees documents from their applications-of-origin, enabling them to be exchanged, retrieved, and edited with any OpenDocument-compliant software or tool. This is a community-driven site, and the public is encouraged to contribute content.

ODF community logo search
In January-May 2008, the OASIS ODF Adoption Committee worked on the design of a logo to designate support for the OpenDocument Format. Several companies and organizations had created ODF logos, each with its own strengths and supporters. The Committee's goal was to gain concensus on a single, recognizable, freely available design that demonstrated and built solidarity in the ODF community worldwide. The result is the ODF community logo.
This page documents the search conducted by the Committee and the comments received in the logo design process.
ODF Alliance responds to Burton Group report
The ODF Alliance Response to the Burton Group's Report describes, on a page-by-page basis, 18 flaws with a recent Burton Group publication, “What's Up, .DOC? ODF, OOXML, and the Revolutionary Implications of XML in Productivity Applications”. The ODF Alliance analysis aims to clarify issues for the benefit of others, especially for the government officials who are evaluating their options to gain control over their documents and may be confused by some of this content.

ODF-XSLT Project Announcement
Lone Wolves is happy to announce the ODF-XSLT project [1]. The ODF-XSLT Document Generator is a library written in PHP 5 that brings the full power of XSLT to your OpenDocument files. It enables you to use ODF files as if they were plain XSLT templates. It also includes a few extra parsing options that allow you to edit the XSLT parts of these ODF from within your favourite office suite. ODF-XSLT is developed by Tribal Internet Marketing [2] and is released by Lone Wolves as Free Software under the GNU General Public License, version 3.
