Sun ODF Plugin 1.1 for Microsoft Office

The Sun ODF Plugin for Microsoft Office allows users of Microsoft Office to read, edit and save to the Open Document Format (ODF). The new version (1.1) adds more languages and improves the import and export of ODF files into Microsoft Office, increasing the interoperability of the Plugin. The Sun ODF Plugin for Microsoft Office gives users of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint the ability to read, edit and save to the ISO-standard Open Document Format (ODF). The plugin works with Microsoft Office 2007 (Service Pack 1 or higher).

XML spec editor: OOXML ISO process is "unadulterated BS"

"The function of the Ballot Resolution Meeting (BRM) is to enable ISO participants to evaluate and vote on ECMA's responses, many of which are technical recommendations aimed at resolving or addressing perceived deficiencies in the standard. Unfortunately, the sheer volume of problems in the specification identified by ISO members has made the review process a significant challenge. There were over 1,000 ECMA responses, spanning approximately 2,300 pages."

Brussels to probe votes on Microsoft standard

"The European Commission is investigating the process under which a key Microsoft document format could be adopted as an industry standard – a move which would carry significant commercial benefits for the software company. . . 'We have to consider whether you might have to participate in the standards committee for a little more than an hour before a vote,' said Lars Flink, chief executive of the Swedish Standards Institute."
