Welcome to OpenDocument

This is the official community gathering place and information resource for the OpenDocument Format (ODF) OASIS Standard (ISO/IEC 26300). Suitable for text, spreadsheets, charts, graphs, presentations, and databases, ODF frees documents from their applications-of-origin, enabling them to be exchanged, retrieved, and edited with any OpenDocument-compliant software or tool. This is a community-driven site, and the public is encouraged to contribute content.

OASIS welcomes input for "ODF-Next"

The OASIS ODF Technical Committee invites you to help define the feature set of the next revision of ODF to follow version 1.2. Help us take "ODF-Next" to a higher stage of document evolution. Be creative. Push the envelope. Be provocative. Change the paradigm. Start a revolution. The only limits on our vision are our own.

He gave the example of coal; 50 years ago nobody had ever given a thought to what the burning of coal would do to the environment and now the effects were being felt.
