Governments increasingly turn to OpenDocument Format as ODF Alliance marks unprecedented 2008.
The OpenDocument XML.org web site is not longer accepting new posts. Information on this page is preserved for legacy purposes only. For current information on ODF, please see the OASIS OpenDocument Technical Committee.
This is the official community gathering place and information resource for the OpenDocument Format (ODF) OASIS Standard (ISO/IEC 26300). Suitable for text, spreadsheets, charts, graphs, presentations, and databases, ODF frees documents from their applications-of-origin, enabling them to be exchanged, retrieved, and edited with any OpenDocument-compliant software or tool. This is a community-driven site, and the public is encouraged to contribute content.
Governments increasingly turn to OpenDocument Format as ODF Alliance marks unprecedented 2008.
Started last year after proposal by convenor Robert Weir, the OASIS OIC TC has begun regular conference-call meetings and is slowly compiling information about interoperability experience and test documents that have been developed.
Rather than create a separate forum or e-mail list for public discussions around ODF interoperability, the OIC TC is encouraging the use of OpenDocument xml.org and this forum.
AbiSource Corporation is to receive funding to improve the ODF compatibility of AbiWord,
the free software word processor. AbiSource Corporation, a company created by some of the AbiWord developers a few months ago, was approached by the Dutch non-profit organisation NLnet which was interested in seeing AbiWord gain better compatibility with the OpenDocument format. This would in turn would boost AbiWord's compatibility with OpenOffice.org.
It would be extremely useful to have parameters to save the positioning and size of an OpenDocument format document.
(4 parameters = position horizontal, position vertical, size horizontal, size vertical, preferably in reference to top left corner)
This would be a per-document parameter.
(Excuse me if it already exists, but I couldn't find such parameters in OpenDocument 1.1, nor in OpenOffice.org 3.0 or previous versions.)
