Interoperability Study for ODF and OOXML
Forum topic: Submitted by rshah on Thu, 2008-08-07 03:52.
Hi,
I recently finished a study on interoperability for ODF (and OOXML). Not surprisingly, we found problems with interoperability for various implementations. More details and the full study is available at:

I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks
Rajiv
Finding out what biggest ODF interop problems people are having
Hello Rajiv,
We were talking about your study on the OASIS ODF Interoperability and Conformance (OIC) TC conference call today. Chair Bart Hanssens has been in contact with you.
One question we have is whether you have a publication date after which you might make your test files available.
Another question is whether you find this forum an appropriate place to address ODF interoperability topics and elicit comments from the public on their experience?
It has been suggested that we use this xml.org forum rather than have a special mailing list for public communication and discussion. (There is already an oic-comment list, although that would normally be for commenting on our documents and any published test guidance, not general public discussion.)
Any thoughts?
Finding out what biggest ODF interop problems people are having
Hi,
The realities of academic publishing mean it will be a while before I have the article published. So in the interest of improving ODF interoperability, I am going to make the test documents public. I am in the process of asking Bart and Rob how best to proceed.
I don't really have a strong opinion on how best to communicate. I just prefer a public discussion with archives, so I can periodically find out what is going on.
I am excited about the interoperability efforts. Good luck.
Rajiv
Test Documents
I have submitted the test documents I used in my study to the Document Format Interoperability and Conformance (OIC) TC. They should show up in their archives. I will post a URL when available.
Availability of the test documents
Rajiv,
The documents can be found in the form you submitted them to us in the oic-comment archive at http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/oic-comment/200901/msg00000.html
At some point this material may be incorporated in a larger, annotated collection.
Thank you for this valuable contribution.
